CLADDAGH TATTOOS

Claddagh is considered to be the enduring symbol of Irish culture. As a rule Claddagh tattoos are represented by the crowned heart held by the pair of hands. These two hands mean friendship, loyalty and love. Nowadays the Claddagh ring is worn worldwide by the Irish on the right hand, either with the heart pointed outwards showing that this person is “free” for romance, or with the heart turned inwards to denote that the soul of its owner is occupied. Some people move this symbol to the left hand. And if the heart is facing inwards, it means that the owner is a happily married person.
